On a drizzly and chilly morning in Seattle, we met in Pioneer Square for Marla and Pavel’s portrait session. I admired the square’s architecture and it provided a wide variety of photo-worthy shopfronts and streets for backdrops.

I love the classic city aesthetic and the timeless and cinematic mood of their session. One of my favorite shots, which was completely candid, is when Pavel is trying to warm up his hands and Marla’s fingertips. They’re looking directly at each other and I feel their gaze exchanges unspoken words. It’s such a sweet gesture and and the whole shot communicates a lot. Marla and Pavel were a delight to photograph and it made my heart so happy when Marla told me these were some of her favorite photos they’ve ever had.
